Review: The Snugg iPad 4 executive case cover and flip stand Posted: 30 Mar 2013 10:57 AM PDT We were delighted recently when The Snugg sent us one of their featured best sellers – Snugg iPad 4 executive case cover and flip stand. We’ve used it for just over a week now and thought it was about time to share some of our thoughts on the case, the good and the bad.
As the title suggests, the Snugg iPad 4 case has been designed with luxury in mind and with that it does come with a premium price tag of £49.99 when ordered via The Snugg’s website, so what does it have to offer? Lets kick off first of all with its design. Design Without even touching it, at first glance The Snugg iPad 4 executive case cover looks sturdy, chunky and well made. It looks like its made of quality leather material. In fact the case is made of synthetic PU leather, what that means is that it is reconstituted leather (small pieces of leather) or bonded leather that is layered with thick Polyurethane to give it a sheen like real leather. The entire case is held together by neatly done white stitching giving it a premium touch. The ‘Snugg’ logo can also be found in the front, back and the inside. As you would expect, there is a clip like component (also made of leather) round the back which allows you to turn the case into a flip stand for hands-free video watching. With lots of quality soft touch material though there is a downside, the case is slightly heavy once you’ve got your iPad 4 inside it and likewise this isn’t going to be the thinnest iPad case you’ll find. If you’re looking for a thin and lightweight case for your iPad, you’d be disappointed. Whilst I don’t mind it being slightly on the heavy side, one issue which has come to my concern are the corners. Though the leather casing holds my iPad 4 tightly in place, all four corners of the iPad especially the two on the volume switch side are exposed, the case just doesn’t extend far enough to offer the protection my iPad needs should I accidentally tip it over onto the floor whilst watching iPlayer when I’m cooking in the kitchen. I think all it needs is to extend the edges of the case by a few more millimetres for a peace of mind. Features As mentioned above, the Snugg iPad 4 case features a clip round its back so that it can act as a flip stand, this works well and is sturdy when placed on even surfaces. There is also a loop at the top of the case where you can clip a pen or if you prefer a stylus. Just like ‘smart covers’ which many will have heard of and used before, Snugg iPad 4 case offers the same, as soon as you close the cover, your device will sleep, likewise opening the cover will switch it back on. Practicality Despite the Snugg iPad 4 leather case not being the slimmest available on the market, it is still quite practical to use. If you had a suitcase or a bag that your iPad could fit before, adding the case won’t make that big of a difference, it will only take up a tiny bit more of your space. It’s soft leather is comfortable to hold, and within the case cover there are three pockets for you to keep bits of paper, credit cards, business cards and one large slot for travel documents. (Not in the one featured in our review, but the one on Snugg’s website, as seen in the picture below) Conclusion There is no denying that the Snugg iPad 4 executive leather case is not the cheapest or the slimmest money can buy, however what you get is a well made product that will endure and protect your device. It looks expensive too so you’re not shelling silly out money for something that looks like its only worth half of what’s on the price tag, this is sometimes the situation when buying gadgets from top brands. Plus when you buy from The Snugg, you will also benefit from their lifetime product guarantee.
