Official: Microsoft SmartGlass – app to connect Android, iOS, Windows Phone with Xbox

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 08:29 PM PDT

Today Microsoft has unveiled at the E3 2012 – Xbox SmartGlass, an application that will allow users to connect phones (Android, iOS, Windows Phones), PCs and tablets with their Xbox 360 console.

“With Xbox SmartGlass, we are lighting up entertainment across your phone, tablet, PC and TV in a completely new way,” Mattrick said. “If you love to play games, watch TV and movies, surf the Web, or listen to music, there has never been a better time to be on Xbox.”

SmartGlass brings AirPlay-style wireless technology to Xbox and Windows 8 by letting you send video from your tablet or phone to your TV. It then turns that second screen into an information window giving you data of the content you’re watching. Plus, it updates the info on your mobile device as the content on the TV changes.

The SmartGlass app will turn your phone into a remote and trackpad for your Xbox, giving you greater control over the content on your bigscreen and allowing you to have features like pinch to zoom and your fingertips.

NES controller turned into a wallet

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 09:19 AM PDT

NES was the most popular console in the 80's, and if you are a fan of NES or if you had a NES when you were a kid, today we have a special geeky treat for you.

Although NES has been replaced by newer and more powerful consoles it doesn't mean that NES is dead, and today we have a geeky wallet that proves it. Melissa Sidwell is the designer behind this project, and she has managed to create wallets or purses from broken NES controllers. She removed the inner parts from NES controllers and she added a lining and a zipper, and although these wallets don't look attractive as the latest wallets on the market, they can be rather appealing if you're a NES fan or just a video game geek.

Melissa Sidwell did an amazing job by turning NES  controllers into wallets, but sadly there's no information about pricing or availability.

LUCASARTS DROPS GAMERS INTO THE CRIMINAL UNDERWORLD WITH NEW MATURE THEMED VIDEOGAME FRANCHISE, STAR WARS 1313 ™

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif – May 31, 2012 – LucasArts, a Lucasfilm Ltd. company, announced today a new internally developed videogame franchise, Star Wars 1313 ™. The game will make its formal debut at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles June 5-7. As players take control of a lethal bounty hunter in a never-before-seen dark and mature world, Star Wars 1313 introduces an integrated development approach by bringing together great artists across the Lucasfilm organization, including LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. and Skywalker Sound. A third person cinematic action adventure game, Star Wars 1313 will bring to life the Coruscant underworld, the most dangerous place in the Star Wars™ galaxy.

Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy. Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.

“We’re excited to share one of the projects LucasArts has been hard at work developing,” said Paul Meegan, President, LucasArts. “Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we’ve always known existed, but never had a chance to visit. We are committed to bringing the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life and I truly believe the work we are showcasing at E3 will speak for itself.”
