Xiaomi MiKey adds another button to your Android device

Posted: 16 Apr 2014 05:36 AM PDT

Last year we wrote about device called Pressy that connects to your Android device and works like a button with a specific function. Today we have a similar device that comes from Xiaomi, so let's see what it can do.

Xiaomi is famous for its smartphones, but this time Xiaomi has released a special accessory for your smartphone. MiKey is a tiny device that connects to your headphone jack, and it works like a button, and you can add all sorts of functionality to it. For example, you can set it to dial a specific number, launch an app or you can assign any other function to it. As you can see, MiKey works exactly the same as Pressy, but it's a lot cheaper.

MiKey is currently priced at $0.79, while a single Pressy costs $27. We have to say that MiKey looks like a Pressy copy, and there might be some legal action against Xiaomi. As for availability, MiKey should be available for sale in China.

LG unveils Smart Lamp and OLED Table Lamp

Posted: 16 Apr 2014 04:20 AM PDT

We have all sorts of smart devices in our homes, and speaking of smart devices, you might be interested in smart lamps that come from LG.

LG has unveiled its Smart Lamp which is basically a smart bulb that connects to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth connection. This means that you can control the bulb thanks to the Android or iOS app, and you can even customize nine working modes that Smart Lamp supports. For instance, in Sleep Mode the light will slowly fade away as you fall asleep, and it will brighten when your alarm clock rings. In addition, LG also revealed OLED Table Lamp, and what makes this lamp special is that it uses curved OLED panel that is thin and flexible as its light source. Just like Smart Lamp, OLED Table Lamp can be controlled remotely via smartphone or tablet.

LG did some good work with Smart Lamp and OLED Table Lamp, but we have no information regarding availability or pricing.
