iPhone Mashup Shoe is a 3D printed shoe that holds your iPhone

Posted: 03 Jul 2013 10:05 PM PDT

We saw all sorts of iPhone cases, but today we have one unique and fashionable iPhone "case".

3D prints are popular, and a 3D printing house based in Amsterdam has designed a unique pair of shoes that can carry your iPhone. iPhone Mashup Shoe was shown at Milan Design Week 2012, and it was designed by Alan Nguyen. According to Alan Nguyen, his design was influenced by DJs and their way of creating music by combining different parts of the song into something completely new. As for the size, iPhone Mashup Shoe is designed for size 37, or size 6 in the United States. We have to admit that these shoes look visually stunning, and Alan Nguyen did an amazing job when it comes to the design. On the other hand, we don't know how comfortable these shoes are, and we seriously doubt that carrying your iPhone attached to your shoe is a practical thing to do.

As we said, iPhone Mashup Shoe looks great, but we doubt that such shoe / iPhone case would be useful.

Kwikset Kevo door lock turns your smartphone into a key

Posted: 03 Jul 2013 10:00 PM PDT

Electronic locks are quite popular, and if you're looking for an electric lock that works with your smartphone, you might be interested in today's model.

Kevo door lock comes from lock maker Kwikset, and it lets you use your smartphone or tablet as a door key thanks to the Unikey's technology. Kevo uses Bluetooth Smart Ready/4.0 and Kevo app to turn your smartphone into a key, so you won't have to take your phone out of the pocket or your bag in order to unlock a door. In order to unlock a door, you just need to walk up to it, and touch the lock with your finger.

If you don't have a smartphone, you can also use Kevo Fob in order to unlock your door with a single touch. In addition, there is a regular door key, so you can unlock your door even if the power is out, or if you have lost your smartphone. The lock is powered by 4 AA batteries that can last up to a year, and you'll get warnings and notifications if your batteries are low on power.

Kevo mobile app currently works only with iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, and you can even create and send electronic keys to your family or friends. Kevo door lock looks great, but currently we have no information regarding the availability or pricing.
