After acquisition of Skype, Microsoft has decided to step up a bit, and it seems that Microsoft will put to rest his popular IM service.

As you probably know, software company from Redmond currently offers two instant messenger services to its users: Windows Live Messenger and Skype. Since Skype is the world's most popular IM service at the moment, Microsoft decided that it will be a good move to discontinue Windows Live Messenger in favor of Skype. Microsoft had sent emails to Windows Live Messenger users informing them that they will discontinue WLM service in March 15th 2013, and that they should switch to Skype if they plan to continue using their IM service.

Skype is gaining more popularity with each day, so it's no wonder to see that Microsoft has decided to cancel one of its IM services. If you're fan of Windows Live Messenger, you can use it until March 15th without any problems, but you should be ready to switch to Skype when the time comes.
