Geeky: Super Mario Bros piggy banks

Posted: 17 Sep 2012 11:39 PM PDT

We covered all sorts of geeky items, and you probably remember 3D-printed Portal Gun replica that we saw recently, and if you're fan of video games, today we have another item which you might find interesting.

Today's item isn't groundbreaking as the Portal Gun, and it's certainly not detailed as one, but if you're fan of video games, then you're certainly going to like it. Super Mario Bros. piggy banks are designed by Media Factory and unlike regular piggy banks, these ones will produce certain sounds from the Super Mario Bros. game, so each time when you put your money in, you'll hear a coin sound, mushroom sound, a pipe sound, a game over sound or any other sound from the game. Of course, we have to mention that each piggy bank is designed like one of the blocks from Super Mario Bros game, so it will be appealing to the fans of the game.

Super Mario Bros. piggy banks are great, especially if you're a video game geek, but currently they are only available in Japan for ¥399 (~$5).

Geeky: 3D-printed Portal Gun replica looks amazing

Posted: 17 Sep 2012 08:49 AM PDT

We have seen all sorts of geeky devices in the past, and if you're fan of video games, today we have a special treat for you, especially if you're fan of the Portal series.

There are all sorts of Portal gun replicas available, but today's replica is made by deviantART member Melissa aka techgeekgirl. This Portal Gun is more detailed than other replicas that we saw, because it is 3D-printed and based on in-game files. Speaking of details, this Portal Gun replica glows both blue and orange and it produces appropriate sounds when used. This Portal Gun looks spectacular, but we seriously doubt that we'll see it available for sale in the future.

As we already said, this is the most detailed Portal Gun replica that we saw, and it would be a great addition to your room, if you're gamer or a fan of the Portal series, but sadly, you probably won't get your hands on it anytime soon.
